There are a lot of sites online...serious sites...with reams of technical knowledge and mired in the depths of their trenchant and ponderous, you know.... seriousness! I want this site to be a bit fun, light and definitely spirited. A hard to grasp concept, for sure, but isn't that true about wind? You can't grasp it, you can only see its effects. It's Breezy! You know what I mean?
I installed the latest version of Ubuntu on a separate VMware virtual machine in my DMZ. I haven't installed it yet on the Nettiki/Breezy! Site since this site is becoming more and more a production site as people start posting information.
Cisco announced three brand new HBAs (Honking Big ASA) today.
According to the press release (click here):
I've been toying with the idea of installing the Zimbra collaboration suite and mail server on my Ubuntu box. Any lurkers out there have experience with it?
According to the Zimbra site (click here), Zimbra has these features:
My tech blog is now 365 days young. Average number of hits per day = ~120 after subtracting out webcrawlers from search engines.
Breezy! / Nettiki Site comes up in many Linux / Cisco / Linksys / VPN searches on Google and Yahoo! so I must be doing something right! Anyway, if you're reading this, you're probably one of my many loyal lurkers! Stop lurking! Sign up and start posting some information! You know you want to...

Wow! Breezy! is definitely going mainstream. After painstaking beta and regression testing (about 2 hours) with selected members (me) of Breezy! 's extensive online community I can now proudly announce that two new features are available for immediate use:
The Breezy! Site will be a year old in a month's time! It's not a high traffic site, but the number of unique visits a day (about 125 after subtracting search engines' web crawlers) is gratifying. I hope that after you have taken a while to look around, that you'll be back again and again! Please post your own thoughts in the forums.
Sincerest thanks,
/Eric
Ubuntu has officially released the Beta of version 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon". Canonical's prediliction to using animal names to name their major releases of the product continues with this new release. But is it a major release? Not really. Is it an official release? It's a beta. According to Canonical the official release is next month, October 2007
Another school year has started. I've got 3 family members in school! My daughter (now a senior in high school) and my son (a freshman!) and my wife (an elementary school teacher). Yoiks but wasn't this a busy/stressful week! It's good that the kids are busy again. I think they were getting bored.

This road warrior gig is wearing me down! Seems every teaching assignment I get is away from my home and my family. I'm in Philadelphia PA this week. Two weeks ago I was in Washington DC. A week from now I will be Toronto Ontario.
I've accepted a new Freelance Development Editor assignment from Cisco Press. This time I'm going to be editing a book on Cisco IOS router security. Sorry to be so vague, but my NDA will not allow me to be more specific since this is a new title and not simply a 2nd edition of an existing book. I will post some of my experiences as I go through the process. My 1st deadline is the end of this month where the book is supposed to be 50% production ready. Tight indeed!
